Book Contract

Exciting news!

ECQI 2018 Workshop

Seven core members of the Bodies Collective have signed a book contract with Routledge the working title is The Collaborative Body in Qualitative Research.

We present a handbook on what it means to do Bodyography as a methodology which is guided by “Autonomy as Pedagogy”. Within this unique pedagogy, our open research group has developed workshops that enable any-body to propose and “run” elements of activities that bring the body back into the centre of our attention.

To do this, we suggest six tasks to engage in and re-create this process. We are aware of the paradox of writing, using words, to communicate what we are doing, yet within these six tasks, we can question, and re-evaluate presumed hierarchies between body and mind.

In this sense, while we aim to bring the body back into focus, taking a both-and position not excluding the word but rather exploring the relationship between bodies and words.

These ideas were originally explored within the International Review of Qualitative Inquiry article as Bodyography as Activism in Qualitative Inquiry: The Bodies Collective at ECQI19
